Art Hearts Fashion is back at The Majestic tomorrow night, Thursday, October 8, for its October run of Los Angeles Fashion Week, and the whole thing wraps up on Saturday. Thursday and Friday are at The Majestic Downtown on Spring Street. Saturday moves across downtown to Level 8, the rooftop at the Moxy and AC Hotel on Figueroa. Doors are at 7 PM all three nights, and tickets are on Posh.
Two different companies call their event “Los Angeles Fashion Week” in October. This is the Art Hearts one, Erik Rosete’s, which has lived at The Majestic for years. The Bureau runs another LAFW out at The Lot Studios in West Hollywood from October 16, and the tickets are not interchangeable, so check which one you are buying before you pay.
Thursday, October 8, The Majestic Downtown, 650 S Spring St
- 7:30 PM: Alexis Monsanto, Swiss Digital Design, Coral Castillo.
- 8:30 PM: Marina Safina, Merlin Castell, Pia Bolte.
- 9:30 PM: Cross Colours, Karl Kani, CXC.
If you can only sit through one block all week, make it the 9:30. Cross Colours and Karl Kani are the two labels that dressed 1990s hip hop, and both of them came out of Los Angeles. Putting them back to back on the same runway is as much an LA history lesson as a fashion show, and the room will know it.
Friday, October 9, Same Venue, Longest Night
Friday has four runway blocks and then a party, so it is the night to eat first.
- 7:30 PM: Usama Ishtay.
- 8 PM: Hiromi Asai, Lindissh Couture, Diyani Yacht Club.
- 9 PM: Maribel JD, The Mestizo, Hardcore Fashion.
- 10 PM: George Styler, Black Design Collective, Mister Triple X.
- 11 PM: after party at The Reserve.
Mister Triple X closes the runway at 10. His shows are the loudest part of any Art Hearts night, and the crowd usually treats it like a concert rather than a fashion show.
Saturday, October 10, Level 8, 1254 S Figueroa St
Level 8 has been the after party spot for this show since the rooftop opened, and this year the Saturday runway is up there too. Two runway blocks, then the party at Sinners y Santos, which is one of the bars inside Level 8.
- 8:30 PM: Copacabana, Idol Jose, Bad Sisters.
- 9:30 PM: Kentaro Kameyama, Marta Miljanic, Giannina Azar.
- 11 PM: after party at Sinners y Santos.
Kentaro Kameyama won Project Runway back in 2017, and Giannina Azar, the Dominican designer, has been on this runway more than once, so the 9:30 block is the strongest of the night.
